Japanski dugometražni animirani film od redatelja i scenariste, Takashi Yamazakia koji se bazira se na popularnoj dječjoj noveli “Naita Aka Oni” (The Red Ogre Who Cried) iz 1933. godine od Hirosuke Hamada. Film je izašao u 2D i 3D verziji, a također, valja spomenuti i neke ranije naslove od ovog redatelja poput: Returner i Space Battleship Yamato, kojeg ste nedavni imali priliku gledati. Od poznatijih glumaca koji posuđuju svoj glas su: Kôichi Yamadera i Sadao Abe. Kino premijera je održana 17. prosinca 2011 u Japanu i 29. prosinca 2011 u Južnoj Koreji, a u Kini će tek biti 20. siječnja 2012 godine.

In a country strangely similar to Japan, there is an island floating on the middle of a lake. It is said that monsters have been living there from the ancient times so that people feared the island and calling it “Monster Island.” In reality, monsters who living there are sweet and friendly, but live in fear of humans. One day, a human child named Kotake wanders into the island., A grumpy red ogre named Naki is difficult to please and he is unpopular among others and he ends up taking care of little Komake.. Naki hates other ogres as well as humans, and has been living a lonely life, but starts living together with his only friend Gunjo, who is a blue ogre, and now with the human child Kotake. Through the life with Gunjo and Kotake, Naki gradually opens up his heart and gets to know the meaning of tenderness. However, happyness doesn’t last long, since Kotake comes to miss his parents and Naki sends him back to his village. But when the villagers see Naki with Kotake, they attack Naki and take away Kotake. Naki falls into depression and his friend Gunjo decides to do something about it …
