Film je baziran na istoimenom romanu Dona Winslowa koji je ujedno i jedan od scenarista ovoga filma, a za potrebe istoga, Stone je okupio poprilično impresivnu glumačku ekipu koju redom sačinjavaju Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Emile Hirsch, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Salma Hayek, Aaron Johnson, Benicio Del Toro i Joel David Moore. Američka premijera filma je zakazana za 06. srpnja 2012., a Britanska bi se trebala održati 28. rujna 2012.
