Kao što znamo iz povijesti, Drugi Svjetski rat je bio jedan od najgorih i najpoznatijih događaja u ljudskoj povijesti. Kao takav bio je česta tema filmaša te je o tom nemilom povijesnom događaju snimljeno na desetke poznatih i zvučnih naslova. Ali s druge strane, Prvi Svjetski Rat se mnogo rjeđe našao na filmskom platnu iako je i o njemu snimljeno dosta filmova. Samo što će se naći manje zvučnih naslova na temu WWI nego na temu WWII (npr. Der rote Baron, War Horse, In Love and War, Flyboys itd.). Toj skupini će se sada pridružiti i ratna drama The Silent Mountain snimljena u ko-produkciji Austrije, Italije i SAD-a.
The Silent Mountain je priča o mladom austrijskom vojniku koji taman uoči početka rata započne ljubavnu vezu sa 17-godišnjom talijankom Francescom. Ali kada Italija objavi rat Austriji on će se naći na bojištu u Alpama, ali učinit će sve kako bi preživio i vratio se Francesci.
Režiju filma potpisuje Ernst Gossner koji je film snimao na lokacijama u Austriji i Italiji. U glavnim ulogama se pojavljuju William Moseley, Eugenia Costantini, Claudia Cardinale, Werner Daehn, Corrado Invernizzi, Michael Cadeddu, te još mnogi drugi. Austrijska premijera se održala 14. ožujka 2014.
